Privacy Policy — DemoGlide by TECHGURU
Effective date: October 19, 2026
TECHGURU Studio is a solo web design studio run by its owner and developer.
I built the DemoGlide by TECHGURU Chrome extension
("the extension") as a tool that captures a 10–30 second full-viewport site tour
(video + screenshots in a single .zip) of the current browser tab.
This policy explains what data the extension handles.
How the extension works
The extension does nothing until you click "Capture this tab".
It then takes screenshots of that one tab, stitches them into a short tour video with
automatic quality gates (the video encoding runs in a hidden processing document inside
your browser), packages the video and screenshots into a .zip,
and saves it to your device using the browser's download API.
Every step runs locally in your browser.
License verification (DemoGlide Pro)
The free tier of the extension works entirely offline in your browser and makes no network calls. If you choose to upgrade to DemoGlide Pro, you buy a one-time license on my website (handled by Stripe — I never see your card details) and enter the license key in the extension popup. The extension then sends only that key to my license server (a Cloudflare Worker) to check it is valid, and re-checks at most once a day. The server stores each issued key and whether it is active; it receives nothing else — no browsing history, no page content, no account data. If the server is unreachable, the extension keeps working as you left it.
Data I do not collect
- No account information or sign-in data
- No browsing history — nothing is captured on tabs you don't explicitly start a tour on
- No analytics, cookies, or tracking of any kind
- No data stored remotely by the free tier — the only server involved is the Pro license check described below, which receives just your license key
- No data sold to or shared with third parties
The finished .zip is saved only to your own device. Nothing the extension
handles is transmitted anywhere, except the Pro license key check described below.
Permissions and why they are needed
activeTab— capture screenshots of the tab you explicitly start a tour on. This is the only host access the extension needs; it requests no broad host permissions.scripting— inject the tour planner that scrolls the page between tour stops.downloads— save the finished.zippackage to your device.offscreen— run a hidden processing document that encodes the tour video. The browser's video encoder is only available in document contexts, so this step cannot run in the extension's background service worker.storage— remember your license status and your free-tour count for the current month. This stays on your own device; it is never transmitted anywhere.
Third-party services
The free tier of the extension does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics providers.
Its video and zip libraries (mp4-muxer, fflate) are bundled
inside the extension itself — it makes no network calls at runtime. DemoGlide Pro
buyers are served by Stripe for checkout (subject to Stripe's privacy policy) and a
Cloudflare Worker for license verification (key only, as described above).
Children's privacy
The extension is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I will update the effective date above and publish the new version at this URL.
